How to enrol

We would love to have your child join us at Port Macquarie Community Preschool.

If your child is already between the ages of 3 and 5 years, and you would like them to attend in the near future, we encourage you to contact us directly on
02 6583 4328 to find out which centre has the availability to meet your needs.

If your child is too young, we recommend that you complete our Expression of Interest form to ensure they will be offered a place when they turn 3 years. Simply fill in the form and return it to us or call us directly and we will let you know the next step in the process.

If you are interested in a tour of the preschool, please contact us and we will arrange one. We also organise Stay and Play sessions at the preschool prior to your child attending so they are familiar and comfortable with staff, other children and the environment before they enrol.

Preschool fees are based on The Early Childhood Educational Directorate’s NSW community preschools ‘Start Strong’ model.

The Start Strong funding model aims to improve affordability of early childhood education and increase the number of children participating for 600 hours in a quality early childhood educational program the year before school.

Due to the ‘Start Strong’ funding model we are able to offer a subsidised fee for children who are at least 4 years old on or before the 31st July in that preschool year, for low Income families and for children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Backgrounds.

Extended Hours

The preschool also provides extended hours care from 8am to 4pm. Our regular hours are from 8.15am to 3.45pm. Extended hours are charged at $3 each morning and afternoon. For example, if your child attends from 8am to 4pm you will be charged $6 per day on top of your normal fee.

Child Care Rebate

Port Macquarie Community Preschool is a Registered Carer, families may be entitled to the registered care rate of Child Care Benefit for hours of care.  Child Care Benefit is different to the Child Care Rebate, Child Care Rebate is not available through registered care providers.

To be eligible for the Child Care Benefit  you and your partner must satisfy the work test. If you are eligible, Child Care Benefit can be claimed through the Family Assistance Offices located at Medicare or Centrelink. https://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/enablers/claiming-child-care-rebate

Payment of Fees

At enrolment a non-refundable administration fee is charged and a bond of four weeks fees is payable. This is refundable if there are no outstanding fees at the end of term 4, OR if a child ceases to be enrolled at the centre with two weeks’ written notice and if there are no outstanding fees.

At enrolment parents/carers can select one of the following three options for payment of fees:

• Up-front full payment of the terms fees by end of week 2 by credit card, cheque or EFTPOS. (Families who elect this payment option and use extended hours, will be invoiced in Weeks 4 and 9 for extra hours used and will be required to pay within 7 days)

• Payment by Direct Debit through the preschool’s bank account – deducted each Monday. Extended hours fees are reconciled from the previous week as necessary.

• Payment by direct debit through Centrepay.
