About Us

We are a not-for-profit community based preschool catering for children aged from 3 to 6 years old, and have been operating in partnership with parents and the community for over 40 years.

Did you know? Our preschool is run by a volunteer board of directors made up of family members and members from the community so they have an invested interest in the preschool and understand first hand what it is they want for their children at the service.

We are licensed for 85 children per day, and operate from two premises – at Munster Street and at The Annex. Both centres incorporate large, natural outdoor play areas with grass, trees and vegetation for the children to explore and enjoy.

We value that children learn through play and encourage discovery, creativity, exploration and growth in our nurturing and natural learning environment. We support our children’s learning through following the principles, practices and outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework.

Did you know? We have university-qualified teachers in each of our four rooms as well as above the minimum regulation for educator to child ratios.

We value the importance of well trained and committed educators, who constantly review and improve current practices to provide the best possible learning environment for our children.

Our educators listen and support development by taking on board the children’s interest and providing them with an introduction to learning in a stimulating, happy and caring educational environment.

Did you know? At Port Macquarie Community Preschool we use Storypark  to document learning, share photos, videos, observations and plans to support development in your own private learning community. Storypark ensures you are always involved in your child's learning, enhancing support and improving educational outcomes.

Through Storypark educators are able to record and communicate learning as it happens, receive instant feedback from families and plan new ways to extend children’s unique interests and abilities.

Storypark eportfolios can travel with your child from preschool to school as valuable records for your new teachers when your child embarks on their next stages of learning.

Did you know? Pre-school hours are from 8:15am to 3:45pm each day and extended hours are available at a small additional fee from 8am – 4pm. We operate in term time only and you don’t pay for public holidays! We have also reduced our fees for 4 year old’s, low income and aboriginal families as we believe in promoting and supporting universal access to a quality early childhood education by allowing for improved affordability.
